Dr. Robert T. Lin founded IQ Laser Vision in 1999 and has since been the Medical Director of our Center.  IQ Laser Vision was developed on a foundation to provide the best vision correction experience available.  Dr. Lin ensures that all IQ Laser Vision Centers are equipped with the most advanced technology designed specifically to provide the best environment to house our delicate lasers.  Our Centers are staffed by highly trained professionals prepared to undertake the meticulous task of patient care.  Much like the Staff he hires, Dr. Lin is not only thoroughly precise with every procedure he performs but he is also one of California’s most experienced eye surgeons.  For more than 13 years, Dr. Lin has successfully performed more than 25,000 refractive procedures.  He believes in the importance of personalized care and takes pride in developing a genuine relationship with each patient. Dr. Lin’s philosophy of practice renders a professional and warm environment where the patients trust him as their surgeon.  

Over 7 million people in the United States have undergone LASIK and experienced the freedom from their dependency on glasses, contact lenses or both!  LASIK utilizes a computer controlled ultraviolet light beam, called an Excimer Laser to change the shape of the cornea, and is effective for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Even patients over 40 years old, who have difficulty reading, often do not need glasses or contact lenses after LASIK. The procedure is virtually painless, taking only minutes to perform, and most patients return to work the next day. Dr. Lin has performed refractive surgery on hundreds of celebrities, doctors, the Center’s staff members and his own family.  His parents who are almost in their 70s are able to see well both near and far without the use of glasses.  More importantly, Dr. Lin is able to relate to each and every patient’s concerns and excitement that is part of the vision correction process, since he is a LASIK patient himself.  Dr. Lin underwent the LASIK procedure over 13 years ago and continues to enjoy 20/20 vision.  He truly believes in the effectiveness of the LASIK procedure and is excited to offer the same phenomenon to others!

Devoted full time to refractive surgery, Dr. Lin is a pioneer in ultra-thin flap LASIK (MICRO-LASIK®, Trademark #2681144, U.S. Patent Office) and LASEK. He has been featured on nationally televised shows, such as Health Watch to discuss the advantages of the MICRO-LASIK® procedure, which is a tissue-conserving technique that results in less dry eyes, decreased weakening of the cornea, and offers more available treatment options to patients.  The unique Micro-LASIK® technique enables more patients to safely undergo the Wavefront procedure, decreasing chances of glare or halos at night.  In many cases the procedure can improve an individual’s vision to a level better than with the use of glasses or contact lenses.

Dr. Lin is a leading researcher in refractive surgery, enabling him to offer a wide array of vision enhancing options, including Refractive Cataract Surgery that allows patients to see well at both near and far, Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) for extremely high nearsightedness, Intacs Corneal Rings for Keratoconus, and the FDA approved CRT Ortho-K contact lenses for children and adults.  Dr. Lin provides his honest opinion and recommends the best options for patients, including advising patients not to undergo any procedures if they are not good candidates.

Dr. Lin received his undergraduate education from UC Berkeley and medical training at UCLA. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, one of the world’s most preeminent programs, where he is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor. As well as being a board-certified ophthalmologist, the Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance (CRSQA) has distinguished Dr. Robert Lin as one of few CRSQA Certified Refractive Surgeons in the United States. He is also named, “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. Dr. Lin continues his work as a consultant to other eye surgeons who need assistance with challenging cases or to patients that need further improvement with their vision. Dr. Lin also acts as a mentor, training ophthalmologists in refractive surgery procedures and certifies LASIK surgeons. Dr. Robert T. Lin continues to dedicate himself to the development of refractive surgery, publishing numerous scientific papers in ophthalmology and contributing his time to participate at various speaking engagements and lectures around the world.
