V. Nicholas Batra, M.D., graduated from Dartmouth College and received his Doctorate of Medicine from UCLA. Following medical school, Dr. Batra performed his ophthalmology residency at UC San Francisco. He holds several surgical records at UCSF and was the first resident to perform LASIK surgery. Dr. Batra performed a one-year fellowship in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at UCSF and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation. Dr. Batra was first involved in refractive surgery in 1994 at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Batra specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions and diseases of the cornea, anterior segment, and external eye structures. Dr. Batra is an active member of several eye care and medical societies including the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin, and the Frederick C. Cordes Eye Society.
